But, if we’re being honest, we much prefer being one step ahead, where the future of the furniture business is only just beginning to take shape. As the digital right hand of the world’s second biggest furniture retailer, we have taken on the challenge of completely reinventing the online furniture business.

Within both our stores as well as our online shops, we strive to wow our customers all the way to the checkout and beyond. We want to deliver to our customers something that not only supports them in making the right purchase, but also accompanies them as they enjoy it and regularly inspires them to try out new things. We envisage a shopping experience that enriches the lives of our customers.

Product Management E-Commerce

„As its name suggests, my team manages the projects concerning the development of the XXXL Group’s online shops. We plan, steer, monitor and accompany a wide range of projects. We are the point of contact for our colleagues and agencies when it comes to new features – from the initial idea, through the design phase, to the big launch. Our team comprises members with valuable experience from a wide range of fields. And with this diverse expertise, we are in the position to deal with demands and requirements to guarantee that all of the online shops of the XXXL Group across Europe provide our customers with the perfect shopping experience.“

E-Com Development

“The E-Com Development team is responsible for implementing the requirements and projects assigned to us by Project Management both on time and with the quality expected. To help us achieve our goals, we make the most of the agile software development methodology Scrum and cross-functional teams. But what do we actually do? As the name indicates, we take care of the E-Commerce area, which services and continually expands the sales platforms of the XXXL Group. For example, we are currently rebuilding our shop portals from scratch using React in order to give our customers an even better shopping experience. Transparency, foresight, respect and the Agile Manifesto are the pillars of our day-to-day work.”

Core Development

“Our team operates in three areas: Core Development Cache, Core Development .net, and Core QA & Support. We continually develop and refine our ERP system and the interfaces linked to it in order to provide our customers with an omni-channel experience and drive the expansion of the XXXL Group. To facilitate this, we utilise InterSystems Caché, which, despite undeservedly being relatively unknown, delivers everything we need to tackle development and debugging issues. All modern interfaces, including REST and SOAP, are supported and used by us. Moreover, the intranet, self-service systems for employees, and PIM (product information management) are all realised by our team.”

Support

„My team is the contact point for all stakeholders when problems with our live systems occur. Our primary task is to solve errors that are reported to us. If this is not possible, the bugs are analysed before being handed over to the developers in the form of a ticket. This involves maintaining close contact with QA, DEVs, project management, and, of course, the stakeholders. We are also on hand to clarify any questions concerning the systems and, when necessary, provide corresponding documentation and training.“

Artificial Intelligence

“Our goal is to create added value for our customers (both internal and external) by utilising the power of artificial intelligence. To achieve this, we employ data-science methods, processes and algorithms. We believe that artificial intelligence is a team game in which we must collaborate with our business stakeholders, external experts (such as educational institutions and service providers), and other XXXLdigital teams. While working with specialists outside of the XXXL Group, we are able to develop our own expertise precisely where it is required. For this purpose, we create, operate and support AI platforms with the goal of being able to offer AI as a service within the XXXL Group.”

Data Warehouse

“We operate and enhance the central data warehouse for the entire XXXL Group. We collaborate with our internal customers to provide an up-to-date database quickly, reliably and regularly. Our core tasks are to provide information quickly, create a central information system, deliver demand-oriented and target-group-oriented information, ensure flexible access (for example via a browser), and support automation and self service. We work in various project teams across locations, and that is why good cooperation and independent working are particularly important to us.”

System & Process Management

„Our team deals with the ideas of the XXXL Group and its branches. We implement these ideas in projects, and this is how suggestions such as self-service checkouts, electronic price displays, screens and videowalls are realised. To make all of this happen, we foster a close working relationship with internal software developers and external partners. It is important for us to define new processes that arise during the technical implementation.“

"Our agile HR team covers the scope of Employer Branding, Recruitment, Talent Management and Strategy & Innovation. As a part of the team our HR Business Partners are in charge of supporting our (future) colleagues from the initial hiring stage all the way through to continuous and regular personal development in consultation with our talent management. Through our day to day efforts around Employer Branding, we are able to inspire our existing and (hopefully) future employees with creative and subject-specific content. The continuous improvements around employee satisfaction are also incredibly important to us.
